USSVI Bremerton Base General Meeting Minutes

Opening

The meeting was called to order, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, recitation of the USSVI Creed, and Tolling of the Boats lost during September. A moment of silence and the chaplain’s invocation followed. New and returning members were welcomed.

Reports

The secretary reviewed the August picnic meeting. Membership was reported at 271, including three new dual members from Blueback Base. The treasurer reported an ending balance of $57,311.30.

Members received updates concerning shipmate welfare, base merchandise, upcoming Soup Downs, Deterrent Park improvements, Holland Club activities, and the vacant Caps for Kids coordinator position. The historian reported on future submarine-history presentations and encouraged members to support the base website and social-media pages.

The Past Commander reported that the Junior Vice Commander position is vacant and reviewed continuing work on proposed bylaw revisions. A second draft will be considered by the eBoard in October, with general membership review and a possible November vote to follow.

Events and Community Service

A presentation outlined plans for the Kitsap Halloween Bash, scheduled for October 24. Members were asked to volunteer for setup, event operations, food service, cleanup, publicity, and candy distribution.

Additional announcements concerned the Kitsap Area Veterans Alliance Stand Down, Operation Homefront’s Military Child of the Year Award, Submarine Advocacy Group activities, Quilts of Valor, veterans’ employment opportunities, and upcoming community events.

New Business and Announcements

The next eBoard meeting will be held by Zoom on October 13 at 1800. Information was also provided regarding the Navy Birthday Ball and future USSVI national conventions.
