- Quick welcome and purpose of the training
- Overview of the transition from printed newsletter to online publication
- Session goals:
- Understand WordPress basics
- Learn how to create and publish a simple post
🖥️ Part 2: What Is WordPress?
- WordPress = A content management system (CMS)
- Used by ~40% of the world’s websites (reliable, flexible, and free)
- Difference between Posts vs. Pages
- Key components of the Dashboard:
- Posts
- Media
- Pages
- Appearance
- Plugins
- Users
🔍 Part 3: Tour of the Dashboard
- Live walkthrough (or screenshots if no projector):
- How to log in
- Navigating the sidebar
- Customizing the profile (user roles: Admin, Editor, Contributor, Subscriber)
✍️ Part 4: Creating a Simple Post
Step-by-step demo:
- Go to “Posts” > “Add New”
- Enter a Title (e.g., “Welcome to the New Puget Soundings!”)
- Add body text using the block editor (Gutenberg basics)
- Insert an image from the Media Library
- Add a category (e.g., Newsletter, News, Events)
- Preview the post
- Publish the post
